About Saint Michael's College

Saint Michael's College is a private, residential liberal arts Catholic college located in Colchester, which is a town in Chittenden County, in Vermont, USA, with a population estimated at a number of nearly 17 000 inhabitants, during the 2000 census, fact which makes it the 4th largest municipality and the 2nd laregst town in Vermont.

Saint Michael's College was established in 1904, by the Society of Saint Edmund, a French order of Catholic priests, and has been coeducational since 1970. It currently offers its students, who number approximately 2700, in total, undergraduate programs in 29 major fields of study and 37 minors, and five master's degree programs in administration and management, education, clinical phychology, English, theology and pastoral ministry.

Athletics

Saint Michael's athletic teams are known as the Purple Knights, which compete in 21 varsity sports for both men and women, in NCAA Division II, in Northeast Ten Conference. Their distinctive colors are purple and gold.
